Ahhh, yes, that time of year that we have been waiting to see for months is finally here! Sunshine and color are returning to everyday life. Birds are chirping, life is sprouting from the ground and tips of trees limbs! Oh and more light, yes the sunlight for more hours of the day…ahhh it’s so good to have it back!
In fact yesterday I had a little shop update and added three new feltidermy to the shop!
Lately when I am not stitching I’ve been cooking. Alright it’s not like that’s a new thing…but, I’ve been looking for new things to cook. I finally watched Julie & Julia the other day and Absolutely loved it! It was so sweet, fun and inspiring to watch! Well, it must have been inspiring because here I sit at my desk writing on my little blog to you…if your our there and actually reading this. I had made a resolution to get back to blogging this year, wrote a few posts and then nothing again. I kept trying to think of something to write about and then thinking “Gee, who wants to read that?” and “Is anyone out there really reading this?” and “Wow, why question? Just write!” So here I am writing whether someone is reading or not. So I’ll be back, with new creations to share with you from my studio and my kitchen!
It may seem strange that we have a dog named Julia Child and none of her cookbooks. When I thought this out loud the other night, my Mr reminded me “You don’t like French food.” Oh yeah! I did pull out my Emily Post cookbook from 1951! I think I’ll try to share some recipes from it with you from time to time. Some of recipes are quite good and basic things to cook. Just as enjoyable as the recipes are the tips for throwing successful dinner parties and other such fun! I could do a whole post on just nuts and when to serve them!
Happy Spring and thanks for stopping by! Oh and if your looking for adorableness for an Easter basket, be sure to stop by my Etsy shop! Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!
There are a couple more feltidermy that have been added to my shop this week.
I love pygmy goats! If I had a little farm land I would have a few of my own. I just had to make a Pygmy Goat Feltidermy!
Also new this week is a Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy that is just in time for spring and St. Patrick’s Day….in chartreuse green of course!
You can also find this one in my Etsy shop.
I made black bean and tofu enchiladas last night. They were really yummy! I’ll try to get the recipe written up today so I can post it for you this weekend. It has been warming up around here the past couple days, but it looks like rain for this weekend. If we get our rainy weekend I’ll be posting here and working on new items for the shop…if not, I’ll be out goofing off!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a great weekend!
I’m feeling a little inspired this afternoon. I just sat and watched a movie that I have been waiting to see. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, it came on the t.v. today and I just had to stop everything I was doing…except for a little stitching, so that I could watch it. I have to say it was worth it! Well, how could someone who makes toys not think that? But, seriously it was good and fun and inspiring! Whether you have a child to sit and watch it with it not, it doesn’t matter. It has a great message for all! After all, who shouldn’t believe in themselves?
Speaking of toys…I added this sweet addition to the shop last week! Pumpkin Spice Plush Bunny
Oh yeah, We got the apartment we wanted in Chicago! I’ve been so busy stitching and packing… We move at the end of the month! Whoo hoo!
I’ve added a few new plush to the shop in the past few days.
First was Bruno the Wool Felt Bear Plush
Next Ponik the Little Loch Ness Monster was added to the shop on Monday.
He is the smallest loch ness monster that I have made, at 7 inches long. Isn’t he Cute!?
Finally, last but certainly not least I added Margarita the Plush Bunny to the shop this morning. I love her chartreuse green wool felt!
The update is about Dad in the Ragbrai… Dad made it through most of the first day. That leg of the ride has many hills and the heat was up in the high 90′s. Understandably for those conditions he ended up in the hospital with heat exhaustion. I know I wouldn’t have made it as far as he did and I have to wonder how many other people are in hospitals along the Ragrai route due to heat. I truly think the Ragrai organizers should think about doing this in September or October when it is not as hot across Iowa.
Dad certainly can’t say he didn’t try and can now check this one off his “Bucket List”. I’m very proud of you dad, but very happy that you are home and safe! xo!
This one my husband found on YouTube.
I wonder if she takes shorthand too…
I always love to see what inspires people to create the items of their craft. I thought I would share a couple of mine with you today.
First is the latest jackalope feltidermy.
I just love her black ears and the rings around her eyes! Of course I had to make her a jackalope in girlsavage style.
Before that I was inspired by Xanadu on Broadway to make a Pegasus! My husband did the revamp on the website, then we went to go see the show. After seeing the pegasus in the show, I just had to come home and make one!
You can find the Pegasus plush here in my shop.
What inspires you to create? Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to go create something new!
I know not a really exciting title, but that is what’s been happening on this week around here. So, yay for new stuff!
I have added a couple new feltidermy pieces to the shop this week.
and a Large Loch Ness Monster Feltidermy Here you can see it with the smaller size that I have previously made.
I also added a couple new plush…A Large Loch Ness Monster This one is 12 inches long!
And today I added A Berry Sweet Plush of a Squirrel
There is one more new one this week that will be listed tomorrow. I’m leaving him for a surprise, but he is from a brand new pattern.
Now for the good movie…Well, I’m not sure good is enough, it was great! We went to the theater last night to see Wall-E. It was just so wonderful that I can’t get over it. Way to go Disney~Pixar!
Of course if you know me, you know that I’m a huge fan of animated movies. This one really stands out as the best I’ve seen! It was amazing how real this little animated robot is. I almost forgot he was animated a few times! They did an awesome job of giving him such a cute personality without making it sappy. It was nice to see an animated feature that didn’t have tons of pop culture references and annoying, all action scenes that makes you dizzy. And Eve, or Eva as Wall-E pronounces her name, is one of the most beautiful robots ever. I highly recommend seeing this one, for kids and adults, it really is sweet and wonderful.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to be back tomorrow with my new plush and a new Skippy adventure too! If you need a way to beat the heat this summer, go see Wall-E!
After much time spent here at girlsavage getting ready for the holidays, we decided to have some fun with it yesterday. Some of the animals decided to get in on the fun of picking out a Christmas tree. Enjoy and then come visit us!
Here he is! I just love the look on that face, slightly confused and oh so cute! You can find him here in my shop. He is stitched from wool blend felt and has the fluffiest tan tail!
The treasury that I curated landed on the front page for a little while last evening! It was my “For the Love of Blythe” collection of items.
I want a Blythe doll! I do, I think it’s perfectly fine to still have a doll and dress her up. Besides I’m a toy maker, I should have toys around to help inspire my art, right? I’m sure if I had a Blythe, then I would start making even smaller stuffed animals for her. My little fawns are already small enough to stand next to her and look cute!
On to more work on a custom bunny. I also have to finish getting the house straightened up for the visit from my parents. Oh and tomorrow is our Anniversary! This is a busy week!
Have a great day!
