A New Spot for Research!

lobyLast weekend we went to the Chicago Field Museum just for fun. Although I grew up just hours from Chicago, I had never been there before. It really is an amazing place to go! We only had a few hours there, but I could have spent the whole day.

sueThey have Sue, the world’s largest, most complete and most famous T. rex! There is also a collection of other dinosaurs up on the second floor. We only got to spend a few minutes up there, so we will have to go back. Next time my nephews need to come with!

We got delayed finding the dinosaurs when the Mr and I wandered off into the Nature Walk. I could have spent our entire time at the museum in just this exhibit! The most amazing collection of taxidermy animals that I have ever seen! It does make me sad to see all of these beautiful creatures there behind glass. I tried to keep my head in a Night at the Museum frame of mind, imagining that they all come back to life every night.

africanelkI was in awe the whole time at there sizes, beauty and oh just the different examples of antlers and horns had me almost speechless. Next time I will definitely need a notebook. There were so many great examples that I want to make feltidermy of and was sure I would remember the names…Of course now I can only remember a few. I also forgot to take Chippy Protoype with me, so next time he’ll have to go to!

Speaking of feltidermy there is a new one in the shop today! Bunny Rabbit 32 Feltidermy.

Feltidermy for your Blythe!

A little while ago I was asked by Claudia of lepetitboutique to make a feltidermy for her Blythe house. I thought it would be a fun challenge to take on. Want to see the end results?

Claudia was kind enough to take some photos of one of her Blythe’s with the Miniature feltidermy! Isn’t is sweet!? Oh and the adorable outfit is just one example of the cuteness you can find in her shop! Be sure to go check it out!

Now there are two more available in my shop!

Gray Miniature Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy or Brooch

Antique White Miniature Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy or Brooch

The “or brooch” part is not a mistake…I decided to put a pin back on the backs of these. The pin back can be used for the hanger and the miniature feltidermy can also be worn as a brooch!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A few new faces and some excitement.

A few new faces made it into the shop this week.

Cinder the Wool Felt Little Lamb made his 1st appearance on Monday.

He reminds me of a baby lamb that used to follow me around the farm when I was little. Yes, I had a little lamb and no his fleece was not white as snow, but he was very sweet!

Yes that’s me at 2 with my little lamb, out in front of the house.

There were also a couple new Feltidermy added this week.

Bunny Rabbit 9 and Jackalope 16

A couple new plush were also added, they are already on their way to their new home.

And now for the excitement! Christine and Danielle of Fact&Fancy have invited me to be a part of their 1st show! I sent off a few pieces to be a part of the show! The Wet Paint show will be open from June 1st- July 13th at 75B Hoyt St Brooklyn, NY 11201 Please check it out if you can, I sure would like to get down to see it! It’s the 1st show I’ve participated in, so I’m very excited about it!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Busy, busy, busy…

It seems like I have been working non-stop for the last 2 months. Custom orders are so much fun and when not creating a custom I’m squeezing in a new item for the shop or taking care of the house. I have gotten quite a bit finished lately. I just listed these new things on Friday…

Today I finished a couple custom orders. I was so excited to do a mini photo shoot of them together up on the wall of my studio.

It was fun to see 2 large feltidermy on the wall and a great excuse to do some cleaning.

I have a new feltidermy brooch that I will be listing tomorrow morning. This one will be a beige bunny!

Also on schedule for tomorrow is the cooking of the corned beef! Yay! I love corned beef and can’t wait to smell it all afternoon.

Sonny had some front page love!

Sonny Squirrel was on the front page last evening with an adorable collection of plush! He is still available in my shop, looking for a new home.

I have been busy shooting again. This time it is to show scale of my plush. I ended up using an egg…

It was hard to think of something that is universal but still looks good with your items. I used a grade A large egg…and I just love the speckled brown eggs that I get at the farmers market. Such a beautiful egg!

Oh yes, that is Chocolate Chip Jackalope up there, you can now find him in my shop! I will be adding a little squirrel later today!

She is another itty bitty critter just like Bitsy Bunny and Chocolate Chip Jackalope. She is so new that she doesn’t even have a name yet!

I think that the rain has stopped for us here in Upstate, NY. It should be a good day to hang out some laundry. I love the smell of laundry that has been out on the line!

I hope you all have a very nice day.

Busy, busy weekend!

If you have been reading here, you know my parents were visiting over the weekend. We had such a lovely time enjoying fall in our little neighborhood of Upstate, NY. There were so many wonderful things to do over this past weekend! We got up Saturday morning to go to the Farmers Market and found that it was the weekend for The Burning of Kingston! How wonderful to go and see people in Revolutionary war costume walking around the market! Here we found a few outside of the old Dutch church…

They had a battle re-enactment later in the day that we had to miss. We had tickets to see The Farnsworth Invention and we wanted to get down to the city in time to get some dinner before the show. Mom and Dad had not been down to NYC in ages, it has changed just a little bit…

The last time mom was down there it was full of hookers, Dad teased that the last time he was in Times Square there were sheep grazing. The show was wonderful! It was their first Saturday night performance, they did a great job!

Sunday we went to the Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, NY. What a huge affair that is! We really had no idea, but you really need a whole day to see everything there. We did see lots of sheep and lots of wool!

It was an exhausting weekend what with all of the activities, but it was so much fun! We’re so glad they could come to visit us and spend the weekend with us!

Somehow with all of that going on I managed to finish this little cutie.

This is Bitsy Bunny, I added her to my shop yesterday. She is named Bitsy for her size. I have been so excited to get this little one done, she is so small and cute! She is about 25% smaller than the other bunnies and just darling. She will soon be joined by a tiny jackalope!
