Spring has Sprung!

Ahhh, yes, that time of year that we have been waiting to see for months is finally here! Sunshine and color are returning to everyday life. Birds are chirping, life is sprouting from the ground and tips of trees limbs! Oh and more light, yes the sunlight for more hours of the day…ahhh it’s so good to have it back!

Spring has sprung in my shop also! I’ve been having so much fun playing with spring colors lately and all of a sudden there seem to be bunnies hopping about everywhere you look!

The bunnies are all around in every size and color! Yes, even a brand new feltidermy too!

In fact yesterday I had a little shop update and added three new feltidermy to the shop!

Lately when I am not stitching I’ve been cooking. Alright it’s not like that’s a new thing…but, I’ve been looking for new things to cook. I finally watched Julie & Julia the other day and Absolutely loved it! It was so sweet, fun and inspiring to watch! Well, it must have been inspiring because here I sit at my desk writing on my little blog to you…if your our there and actually reading this. I had made a resolution to get back to blogging this year, wrote a few posts and then nothing again. I kept trying to think of something to write about and then thinking “Gee, who wants to read that?” and “Is anyone out there really reading this?” and “Wow, why question? Just write!” So here I am writing whether someone is reading or not. So I’ll be back, with new creations to share with you from my studio and my kitchen!

It may seem strange that we have a dog named Julia Child and none of her cookbooks. When I thought this out loud the other night, my Mr reminded me “You don’t like French food.” Oh yeah! I did pull out my Emily Post cookbook from 1951! I think I’ll try to share some recipes from it with you from time to time. Some of recipes are quite good and basic things to cook. Just as enjoyable as the recipes are the tips for throwing  successful dinner parties and other such fun! I could do a whole post on just nuts and when to serve them!

Happy Spring and thanks for stopping by! Oh and if your looking for adorableness for an Easter basket, be sure to stop by my Etsy shop! Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!

Etsy Finds ~ Anthropomorphic Bunnies

Lately I have been thinking back to the Richard Scarry books that I enjoyed as a child. I could spend hours studying the pages of his books. The idea of animals living their lives like humans just fascinated me to no end. I decided with Easter on it’s way and Peter Cottontale hopping down that bunny trail, that I would share a few anthropomorphic bunnies that I found browsing Etsy.

Feltidermy featured on Cuteable today!

cuteable3-6-09The Embossed Rhino Feltidermy that I finished yesterday is featured on Cuteable’s Flickr Friday! What a great way to start my Friday! Here’s a larger view of this feltidermy.

embossedrhinoThere are a couple more feltidermy that have been added to my shop this week.

I love pygmy goats! If I had a little farm land I would have a few of my own. I just had to make a Pygmy Goat Feltidermy!

pygmygoatAlso new this week is a Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy that is just in time for spring and St. Patrick’s Day….in chartreuse green of course!

bunny36You can also find this one in my Etsy shop.

I made black bean and tofu enchiladas last night. They were really yummy! I’ll try to get the recipe written up today so I can post it for you this weekend. It has been warming up around here the past couple days, but it looks like rain for this weekend. If we get our rainy weekend I’ll be posting here and working on new items for the shop…if not, I’ll be out goofing off!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a great weekend!

The “It” color for Fall

As a designer of any kind it is important to stay on top of the colors trends for every season. This fall I’m delighted that the hottest color for the season is purple. Purple gives a feeling of romance and femininity, it is also associated with royalty, regality, and nobility. And what better color to be set against all of natures golds that it gives us with the changing leaves!?

For my own contribution to the trend, I have created this Purple Miniature Bunny Rabbit Feltidermy or Brooch! Decorate your Blythe’s house or yourself with this little cutie!

*******Now, how about some gorgeous purple Etsy Finds!*******

~The Montmartre Plaid Painter’s Dress from tortillagirl is just adorable!

Worn as a sweet little dress or belted with your favorite jeans, it would be a great addition to anyones wardrobe!

~Want something you could take from the office to a night out on the town? I think The Phoebe in (Deep Purple) from snoozerloser is the perfect find!

~Maybe your more of the t-shirt kinda girl… This Chandelier print gold purple t-shirt from PrettyRaccoon should fit the bill.

~If color in our accessories is more you thing, these would be the perfect splurge for fall! Make a statement with custom purple and green sandals from zerkahloostrah. In custom made shoes you could feel like Cinderella at the ball anytime you wish!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! We are off to Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain today. I will be back tomorrow , hopefully with some photos of the changing leaves…If I can get up the guts to ride on the ski lift. 😉

Your Life is an Occassion, Rise to it!

I’m feeling a little inspired this afternoon. I just sat and watched a movie that I have been waiting to see. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, it came on the t.v. today and I just had to stop everything I was doing…except for a little stitching, so that I could watch it. I have to say it was worth it! Well, how could someone who makes toys not think that? But, seriously it was good and fun and inspiring! Whether you have a child to sit and watch it with it not, it doesn’t matter. It has a great message for all! After all, who shouldn’t believe in themselves?

Speaking of toys…I added this sweet addition to the shop last week! Pumpkin Spice Plush Bunny

Oh yeah, We got the apartment we wanted in Chicago! I’ve been so busy stitching and packing… We move at the end of the month! Whoo hoo!

A Little Like Credit Card Commercial…

Traffic and parking to Yankee Stadium… A mess

Bleacher seats… crowded, hot and sticky

My nephew getting to see his favorite player hit a home run… Priceless!

We had a great time at the game! I had never been to a real ball game before either, so it was really fun to see it with them.

Now back to real life again…

I added a couple 1″ button sets to the shop today. There are 2 to choose from:

First is Girlsavage Plush Button Set which includes 3 buttons of plush critters packaged in a black velvet pouch. This set includes Chippy Squirrel, Bunny Blue and Spotti Fawn.

The next is Girlsavage Plush Button Set 2 which features four other plush set against a white background. This one includes a loch ness monster and a unicorn in the set. This set also comes in a black velvet pouch.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all have a great weekend!

An Awesome gift from an Awesome artist

This pen & ink drawing was given to me as a birthday gift from my very talented brother-in-law! I love it so much! He drew it from looking at Margarita Bunny in my shop. I think it needs to be used as promo material for Etsy , but the original is mine and will soon be framed.

Nate had some work up in a show here in town last week. We went to the closing party this past Saturday evening.

Here is a closeup detail of one of the pieces…

I love the detail that he puts into his abstract works. Of course now that I know how well he does cute, I think he should do more of that too! We may have to work out some kind of collaboration ideas for him to do more drawings of my plush. I can already imagine some ACEO size pieces… Now to get him to put some work back up in his Etsy shop. 😉

A few new plush and an update.

I’ve added a few new plush to the shop in the past few days.

First was Bruno the Wool Felt Bear Plush

Bruno was lucky enough to get to the front page of Etsy Sunday evening, in a beautiful treasury curated by fringe!

Next Ponik the Little Loch Ness Monster was added to the shop on Monday.

He is the smallest loch ness monster that I have made, at 7 inches long. Isn’t he Cute!?

Finally, last but certainly not least I added Margarita the Plush Bunny to the shop this morning. I love her chartreuse green wool felt!

The update is about Dad in the Ragbrai… Dad made it through most of the first day. That leg of the ride has many hills and the heat was up in the high 90’s. Understandably for those conditions he ended up in the hospital with heat exhaustion. I know I wouldn’t have made it as far as he did and I have to wonder how many other people are in hospitals along the Ragrai route due to heat. I truly think the Ragrai organizers should think about doing this in September or October when it is not as hot across Iowa.

Dad certainly can’t say he didn’t try and can now check this one off his “Bucket List”. I’m very proud of you dad, but very happy that you are home and safe! xo!
