Desktop Feltidermy and how they came about!

Lions and tigers and feltidermy, Oh my!

I know I’ve been a bit absent from the blog again the past couple of weeks, but now you can see one reason why. Alright, yes, I’ve also been enjoying the spring we’ve been having…but also creating! For about the last week the new desktop feltidermy pieces have had most of my attention.

The desktop felidermy came about from a custom request. The request was for 2 tigers (pictured above) looking like they are leaping out of the plaque. Well, of course I loved this idea, but I had to figure out how to make it work. I spent a couple days just researching images of tigers leaping, jumping, diving and well anything but standing still. After I finally had that stuck in my head I started building my pattern, once I had it ready all I had to do was get to cutting and stitching. I started stitching the first tiger and the shape was exactly what I wanted, they were just a bit small for the size I needed.

*light bulb moment*

Desktop Feltidermy!

Now I just had to figure out how to make them stand on their own. Notice how I said “just” haha… I thought about how to make them stand as I was stitching, browsing the hardware store, walking the dog, cooking dinner, watching the new season opener of Doctor Who, I think even while sleeping. I finally did figure it out and I was still able to attach the plush to the wood as usual, the stand just cover my hardware for attaching. Believe me, these guys and their stands are not separating!

So yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to…Now to hope that everyone else loves them as much as I do! You can find them in my Etsy shop.

I hope you are all having a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

Spring has Sprung!

Ahhh, yes, that time of year that we have been waiting to see for months is finally here! Sunshine and color are returning to everyday life. Birds are chirping, life is sprouting from the ground and tips of trees limbs! Oh and more light, yes the sunlight for more hours of the day…ahhh it’s so good to have it back!

Spring has sprung in my shop also! I’ve been having so much fun playing with spring colors lately and all of a sudden there seem to be bunnies hopping about everywhere you look!

The bunnies are all around in every size and color! Yes, even a brand new feltidermy too!

In fact yesterday I had a little shop update and added three new feltidermy to the shop!

Lately when I am not stitching I’ve been cooking. Alright it’s not like that’s a new thing…but, I’ve been looking for new things to cook. I finally watched Julie & Julia the other day and Absolutely loved it! It was so sweet, fun and inspiring to watch! Well, it must have been inspiring because here I sit at my desk writing on my little blog to you…if your our there and actually reading this. I had made a resolution to get back to blogging this year, wrote a few posts and then nothing again. I kept trying to think of something to write about and then thinking “Gee, who wants to read that?” and “Is anyone out there really reading this?” and “Wow, why question? Just write!” So here I am writing whether someone is reading or not. So I’ll be back, with new creations to share with you from my studio and my kitchen!

It may seem strange that we have a dog named Julia Child and none of her cookbooks. When I thought this out loud the other night, my Mr reminded me “You don’t like French food.” Oh yeah! I did pull out my Emily Post cookbook from 1951! I think I’ll try to share some recipes from it with you from time to time. Some of recipes are quite good and basic things to cook. Just as enjoyable as the recipes are the tips for throwing  successful dinner parties and other such fun! I could do a whole post on just nuts and when to serve them!

Happy Spring and thanks for stopping by! Oh and if your looking for adorableness for an Easter basket, be sure to stop by my Etsy shop! Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!

First Collaboration

This feltidermy is a collaboration between myself and my husband, Shannon. He does sketches that he calls sketchmonsters and paintings too. This feltidermy is based on his alien sketchmonster painting, pictured above with the feltidermy! We worked out the pattern together, then Shannon painted the plaque and  I stitched up the monster head and mounted it.

We hope to be doing another one in the near future. You can find the Alien Monster Feltidermy by clicking on the photo at the top of this post or in my shop!

I’m having a hard time adjusting to the time change this week. Today I was up at 4:15! I don’t think my brain is processing this “spring forward” thing correctly. *yawn*

I hope you’re all adjusting well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Something a Little bit Different

Today I introduced the first Unibunny Feltidermy to my Shop!

The unibunny is a small woodland creature from the island of Mythalogia. They claim to have many magical powers that come from the horn on their small heads. Some of these claims involve the creation of moss, and rainbows. The unibunnies also claim to be responsible for the creation of the first jelly bean.

* No actual unibunnies were harmed in the making of this feltidermy*

I’m so happy to be back to feeling like myself again! I’ve been fighting a cold for the last month…finally this week I seem to be over it (knock on wood).

Tomorrow I hope to have a new collection of Feltidermy Brooches available!

Hooray for for Spring being on the way, colds going away and the start of many new creations!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Not so good with resolutions…

I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m just not good with resolutions. I made a New Years resolution to get back to blogging. Well, here it February and I’m just now doing my first post of the year. I think maybe I made to many resolutions this year. Blogging, healthier eating, concentrating on the shop and getting it stocked again. I’m happy to admit that I have not been doing too badly on my second and third resolutions. I’m making better choices when it comes to what I put into my mouth. I’ve also been very busy stitching up a storm, trying to get my shop stocked up after the Christmas craziness.

What were your resolutions this year? I would love to hear them!

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you soon! No, really!

A Peek into my Work Space

Everyone is always interested in where people work. So, today I thought I would post a couple pics of where I do all of this computer fun stuff from.

computerWorkSpacesmaller

I know, not real exciting, huh? But, that little green chair is where I am sitting right now writing this. It is where I do all my photo editing, listings for my shop, and hanging out on Twitter. What I am excited about today, is that I finally got my “Etsy art wall” hung. I hope to add more to it as I collect more art from my favorites on Etsy!

P.Nut’s First Adventure!

Friday afternoon when P.Nut and Chippy Prototype heard we were going to Ribfest, they decided it would be great for her first outing.

ready

P.Nut ran and snuggled into my purse and said she was ready for action!

elPlatform

While waiting on the platform, she got very excited for her first ‘L’ ride!

onEl

P.Nut thought it was pretty neat that she was the only squirrel on the ‘L’.

beer

The festival was very crowded and everyone was drinking beer. P.Nut was glad that we thought to bring a bottle of water.

grill

Watching all of the ribs getting grilled was fun! P.Nut didn’t eat any of them, she is a vegetarian, but she thought the cheese fries were great!

bands

She really enjoyed seeing a couple bands that she has listened to in the office at home. The Harlem Shakes were fun, but she liked Office the best!

After all of that, it was time to head back home. She couldn’t wait to tell Chippy all about it. P.Nut had so much excitement that she fell asleep on the way home. Telling her adventure would have to wait until morning.

morningAfter

Saturday morning when I got up, I found her in the dining room with Chippy Prototype and Iris. She was having so much fun telling them all about her evening out.

P.Nut can hardly wait for her next adventure! She read something about
Andersonville Midsommarfest in one of the papers, that might be fun…

The new Little Squirrel has a Name!

The new little squirrel has had quite a week. First of all we decided that she is definitely a girl, she’s just too cute not to be! She has had lots of meetings with Chippy about what being the squirrel  about town will involve. She has also spent time meeting all the other plush and feltidermy.

wFeltidermy

Here she is with the newest feltidermy,  the Medium Eight Point Buck Feltidermy.

We would all like to thank everyone for  submitting their ideas for her name! There was one that stood out to us as soon as we saw it. Thank you to Jessica of  PlushroomSoup, she gave the suggestion of the name P.Nut and is our winner! The name P.Nut really couldn’t be more fitting for this little squirrel!

Thanks again and please stop by tomorrow to see P.Nut’s first adventure to Chicago Ribfest!
